This week was fun! We got to make tea cups for are Alice in Wonderland worksheet.We had to write the different between the mad hatters tea party to a real tea party.

We also got to do our on drawing that was for our Renaissance history book.

We also presented are poem the Jabberwocky.

We got to draw the non-vascular plants and vascular plants.

Mmm...thank you Elle for bringing M&M's today they were delicious. One more thing this week team 1 and team 6 won good job on your win this week so that is it for this week.

Hello Quarter 2!!

This week we talked more about the inca this week talked about the end of two empiers it was about how a french group came to their island an the inca thought they were gods we also learnd about some more spelling lists like capitlization rules apost  that is the blog

End of Q1

We have finished the Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett and we have to write an essay over the weekend and it is due Monday.

We had a Secret Garden test and a Well Ordered Language quiz Tuesday. Spelling test Wednesday, in history class we had a test Thursday, and we had no school Friday and we had a Science test Monday.

We have been learning about classification in science,

Secret Garden in literature, the Aztecs in history, but are learning about the Inca civilization, and we have a spelling test every Wednesday.

We keep moving on!

St Johns classical Academy is an amazing school. In Mrs Grewe's 5th grade class we are learning so much. We are learning about Aztec culture in history and in Science we are classifying organisms. In literature  we just finished The Secret Garden, it was such an amazing book.

We are learning core classics, like learning how to analyze sentences. For now we are just learning the subject of the sentence and the predicate verb and helping verbs.

I am so exited with what we're learning and cannot wait to learn more!

Another week, another Blogger

This week what we have been talking about is the Mayan's in history, classifying objects and The naming system of Linnaeus in science, and The Secret Garden in literature.

 The naming system of Linnaeus was invented by Carolus Linnaeus. This naming system Linnaeus used is called Binomial Nomenclature. The word binomial means two names.

What we have been learning about in history is about the Maya. Maya is a group of peoples who have inhabited a region that includes parts of present day Mexico and Central America from thousands of years ago to the present. Before the arrival of Europeans, Maya cities and civilization thrived in rain forest locations locations between about 200 and 900 CE. Maya people were thriving and strong but ceased to stay alive. No one knows for sure. We only know that the once-great Maya cities were abandoned and swallowed up by the rain forest. The Maya people scattered but did not disappear.

Last but not least in the secret garden we are where Colin has entered the secret garden and Ben Weatherstaff found them in  the secret garden. He started yelling at Mary, Dickon, and Colin. He said Colin was crippled but he is not. Now he is in with their little secret.

More from Peyton...September 9-14

Hi it's Peyton, I know again! But it is very fun doing this a second time!

The first thing we did was some History notes and Science notes, they were okay, but they were not fun and easy. We also started a new chapter in History on the Maya's. By the way Secret Garden is getting better by the day. Also in Science we started a new chapter. In Language Arts we are analyzing spelling words and learning phonograms. They are quite complicated. In Secret Garden we drew the inside of the growing garden. Well the week went very well. Hope you enjoyed, thank you.

Our first student blogger...

Hi my name is Peyton and I am going to be writing and typing the first student blog for Mrs. Grewe's class. It is an honor to be doing this.

So far we have been going over a lot of stuff this year, we have accomplished many obstacles such as are SJCA Virtues and memorizing each other's behavior etc,. This week we have been learning how to take Cornell Style notes and how to shorten our answers in multiple questions in Literature, Science, History and Language Arts. Also, we have certain teams in the classroom.

The other students and I have been working on reading the Secret Garden. It is a very interesting book but it was very boring to me in the beginning. In Literature we are reading Secret Garden. We have answered questions such as,..." Explain how Dickon was able to assure Mary that there would be roses in the Garden in the Spring." Tough sentence Eh! It's actually quite simple, by the way "Eh!" is actually Yorkshire toned.

In History we are learning about the World Lakes. To me I think the Lakes are interesting.

In LA we are learning are writing and reading the Silent Final E. Rules and we are also learning our Phonograms and spelling.

Also in Science we are learning about the Scientific Method, the other day we did a project on it, the project was to see how long you gum lasted. It was a very fun experiment! My gum lasted about 45 minutes, other people gum lasted around 20 to 30 minutes, the six methods are 1. State the Question  2. Collect Info.  3. Form Hypothesis  4. Test the Hypothesis  5. Record and Study Data  6. Draw Conclusion. The other thing we did in Science was learning What is Life?. We just started learning about the Characteristics of Life.

The resources that we have are P.E., Art, Spanish and Music. The teacher that teaches PE. is Mrs. Patterson. She is awesome! The Music teachers are Mr. Clarke and Miss Smith. They are the power by the hour! The Art teacher is Mrs. Rice. She is an amazing artist and art teacher. Finally the Spanish teacher Mrs.V. She is "Grande" with Spanish words!

The best part of the week was getting cookies, they were delicious! P.S. That was today, It was awesome to write this. THANK YOU!!!!
